The Faculty of Architecture of Porto University (FAUP) works on a building designed by Álvaro Siza, located in the latter deploying on the grounds of an old farmhouse on a hillside facing the river Douro. FAUP, also known as "Porto school", is a worldwide reference in Architecture graduation. On this institution, many awarded and published architects have studied and taught. Fernando Távora, Álvaro Siza and Eduardo Souto Moura are some of the greatest examples of the pedagogic, scientific and artistic abilities of “Porto School”. FAUP students have abroad spectrum training, and the course has no specializations. The design studio is envisaged as the place where the synthesis of all the knowledge is produced, and drawing is used as an analysis tool to understand design problems but also to research in History and Theory.
